Our Story & Mission

About BigGyaan & D K Bhargav Achary

Why BigGyaan exists: taking Artificial Intelligence, computing, and science out of elite glass towers to every curious mind across India.

What is BigGyaan?

BigGyaan (b-i-g-g-y-a-a-n) embodies a powerful dual meaning:

  1. In Eastern Indic phonetics (Odia and Bengali), Biggyaan (ବିଜ୍ଞାନ / बिग्यान) is the living spoken pronunciation for Science (विज्ञान).
  2. It represents Big Gyaan — deep, foundational, and expansive knowledge that belongs to every citizen, not an exclusive elite.

BigGyaan is an independent, non-commercial educational publication and newsletter created to demystify Artificial Intelligence, computing, and modern science for the general public across India. It is published freely for everyone on biggyaan.app.

We are living through one of the most consequential technological shifts in human history. Machines can now hold conversations, write code, analyze satellite imagery of crop fields, and diagnose medical scans. Yet, almost all authoritative information about how these systems work is locked behind two formidable walls:

  1. The wall of academic and corporate jargon — full of buzzwords, marketing hype, and mathematical intimidation.
  2. The wall of the English language — treating non-English speakers as mere consumers rather than informed participants in the technological future.

BigGyaan exists to dismantle both walls.

Who is Behind BigGyaan?

BigGyaan was conceived and is written by D K Bhargav Achary (Bhargav writer).

Bhargav is a systems engineer and computer architecture specialist. He studied at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) and has spent years working deeply with semiconductor architectures, hardware acceleration, memory hierarchies, and AI inference engines.

He grew up in Odisha, lived and worked for years in Bengaluru’s high-tech corridors, and is currently based in Pune.

Having seen both sides of the spectrum — from designing micro-architectures inside state-of-the-art computing laboratories to observing how family members, farmers, and small shopkeepers in Odisha and across India interact with technology — Bhargav recognized an urgent national responsibility:

“If science and technology remain confined to elite English enclaves, we are failing the vast majority of our people. A student in a government school in Mayurbhanj or a farmer in Vidarbha has every right to understand how an algorithm works, what an AI model can and cannot do, and how technology will reshape their livelihood.”

The Core Philosophy of BigGyaan

1. Common People Friendliness

We refuse to write in abstractions. If a concept cannot be explained using a physical, relatable analogy from daily Indian life — whether it is a pressure cooker, an auto meter, a village post office, or a local haat — then the explanation is not finished. We start with what people already know and gently guide them to what is new.

2. Multi-Lingual Dignity

English is a tool of convenience, not a measure of intelligence. BigGyaan is built from the ground up to publish parallel, high-quality editions in English, Hindi, and Odia, with Telugu and Marathi actively scheduled. These are not mechanical Google translations; they are culturally natural, polite, and intuitively written explanations that speak to the heart.

3. Absolute Anti-Hype Discipline

We do not sell dreams or generate fear. AI is not “magic”, and it is not “conscious.” It is mathematics, statistical patterns, and immense amounts of electrical energy flowing through silicon chips. When an AI tool makes mistakes or has severe limitations, we state that clearly.

4. Quality Learning & Ongoing News

BigGyaan serves two essential needs:

  • Foundational Learning: Clear, step-by-step primers on core concepts (What is a Neural Network? How does a Transistor work? How does ISRO launch satellites?).
  • Weekly Pulse & News: Grounded breakdowns of recent breakthroughs, government digital initiatives (like DPI, Bhashini, ONDC), and what they actually mean for you.

An Ecosystem of Thought

BigGyaan is part of a broader family of public writing initiatives by D K Bhargav Achary:

  • bhargavachary.in: Personal reflections on culture, travel, society, and sustainable living.
  • dkbachary.github.io: In-depth technical analysis of computing hardware and computer architecture.
  • NeuroYug: An independent public-health publication exploring heart health, brain health, and neurodiversity.
  • BigGyaan: Demystifying AI, technology, and science for every Indian home.

We welcome students, teachers, parents, and curious citizens to read, learn, share, and question everything.
